By Request: Taller Collars on Dress Shirts

Posted on August 07, 2014 by Snap Tailor

We love to hear feedback and requests from our customers.

Today, we're happy to announce that we've made a change that will address the most popular request: Taller collars on dress shirts.

Some customers noticed that ties tended to peak out from under the side and rear of their shirt collars. To address this, we've divided our custom tailored shirts into two collections: Dress Shirts and Casual Shirts.

Dress Shirts now feature taller, 1-3/4" collars as measured at the back of the neck. This allows them to stand up taller under a suit jacket and hide better the neck loop of the tie. These shirts look equally great with or without a tie.

Casual Shirts are handcrafted with the same 1-1/2" rear collar height you're used to from Snap Tailor. These shirts are designed to be worn without a tie.

Want to order a shirt from the Casual Shirt collection with a taller collar? No problem, just request a taller collar in the Special Instructions textbox right next to the Add to Cart button. Want to order a shirt from the Dress Shirt collection with a shorter, more casual collar? Yep, use the Special Instructions textbox.

You may also notice the Dress Shirts collection features office-friendly patterns, while the Casual Shirts collection features bolder patterns. Other than that, tailor made shirts from both collections are made to the same discerning standard you've come to expect from Snap Tailor, including French Seams.

We hope you love the change. If you have any feedback or questions, reach out! We'd like to hear from you. See the Contact Us section at the bottom of this page.

French Seams: The Gold Standard in Shirtmaking

Posted on May 01, 2014 by Snap Tailor

At Snap Tailor, all our shirts are made with French Seams even though they take twice as long to sew as more common Flat Fell Seams.

No one besides your cleaners will ever see them.

So why do we insist on French Seams? Because they're extra strong. And because you, good sir, deserve the best.

How to sew a French Seam. Don't worry, we'll take care of this.
